  • About the Course
  • PECCM is a modular course where participants will review in detail completion of the following procedures: lumbar puncture, interosseous vascular access, arterial line insertion, blood drawing, blood culturing, central venous catheter insertion, thoracentesis, chest tube insertion, pleural drainage, paracentesis, electrical cardio-version, PA catheter insertion, pleural biopsy, trans-venous cardiac pacing, transcutaneous pacing, pericardio-centesis, esophageal balloon insertion, bronchial blocker insertion, fiberoptic intubation, flexible laryngoscopy, video laryngoscopy, direct laryngoscopy, bougie aided intubation, airway exchange catheters, cricothyroidotomy, gastric lavage, nasogastric tube insertion, foley catheter insertion, tracheostomy management, defibrillation, suprapubic bladder catheter insertion, and nasal packing. Each module will consist of pre-course material, simulation with task trainers and hands on ultrasonography training when appropriate, as well as verification of competence on simulators.

Procedural modules will emphasize patient and operator safety, procedural planning, and knowledge of pitfalls. Modules can be tailored to participant deficits or implemented "in-time" after experiencing a clinical scenario.
